In rural areas of southern China, water sources typically come from wells. Due to the terrain, this water often has a high calcium content, which can easily lead to health issues such as stones (calculi). In rural areas, the water purification process generally involves first passing the water through a quartz sand filter to remove particulate matter. It then goes through a resin ion exchange bed to filter out calcium and magnesium ions. Next, it passes through a safety filter to remove other impurities and microorganisms, followed by ultraviolet sterilization. After being treated by this complete set of water purification equipment, the water is safe for direct drinking.
