Water softening equipment is not only used in daily life but also in industrial production. So, let's now take a look at how to choose the right water softening equipment.
1. First, you need to specify the system that will use the softened water. Is it for:
-
Heating?
-
Cooling make-up water?
-
Process water?
-
Gas or steam boilers?
-
The steel smelting industry?
-
The chemical or pharmaceutical industry?
2. System Water Consumption Time: This includes the operating time, hourly water demand, average demand, and peak demand.
Does the user require a continuous water supply? If so, choose a single-valve dual-tank or dual-control dual-bed series product. Otherwise, a single-valve single-tank system can be selected.
3. Exchange Capacity of the Resin
Generally, resin comes in three grades: electrical grade, national standard grade, and water treatment grade. Among these, the exchange capacity of the electrical grade resin is relatively high, indicating good resin quality. The next best is the national standard grade, followed by the water treatment grade.

4. Raw Water Total Hardness? What is the water source?
Is it municipal tap water? Groundwater? Surface water (rivers, rivers, lakes)? You need to provide the raw water hardness for the specific location. For a given model and specification of water softening equipment, if the water hardness is high, the timed water production flow rate will inevitably be lower, leading to frequent regeneration cycles. This is very detrimental to the service life of the resin. To prevent this situation, the resin volume should be increased, which means opting for a larger model and specification of water softening equipment (e.g., duplex systems, standby units).
5. Required Soft Water Flow Rate (Tons/Hour)
This is determined by the characteristics and requirements of the user's facilities. Based on this, the standard model and specification of the water softening equipment can be determined.
6. Setting the Timed Water Production Flow Rate
Once the model and specification of the water softening equipment are set, the theoretical timed water production volume (tons) can be calculated based on the raw water hardness and the exchange capacity of the resin used.
Once you've considered these factors, you're ready to purchase your water softening equipment.
