After a period of operation, water softening equipment inevitably requires cleaning and maintenance to extend its service life and ensure optimal performance. So, how do you clean water softening equipment?

1. First, open the inlet valve and drain valve of the mechanical filter, and close its backwash valve and vent valve. Perform forward washing until the water flow is clear.

  • Cleaning the Activated Carbon (Use the water flow from the mechanical filter for cleaning)

    1. Open the backwash valve and vent valve of the activated carbon filter.

    2. Close the inlet valve and drain valve of the activated carbon filter, and close the inlet valve and backwash valve of the softener.

    3. Close the drain valve of the mechanical filter and backwash the activated carbon for about 15 minutes.

    4. Open the inlet valve and drain valve of the activated carbon filter, and close its backwash valve and vent valve. Perform forward washing until the water flow is clear.

    5. Turn off the raw water pump and the drain valve of the activated carbon filter.

2. Regenerating the Softener in Water Softening Equipment

  1. Prepare a 10% edible salt solution and set it aside for use.

  2. Open the vent valve and drain valve of the softener to drain the water from the column.

  3. Close the softener's inlet valve, backwash valve, drain valve, and the precision filter inlet valve. Open the softener's outlet valve and cleaning valve, then start the cleaning pump. After introducing the salt, turn off the cleaning pump, the cleaning valve, and the softener's outlet valve. Let the resin soak for 2 to 4 hours.

  4. Open the softener's backwash valve and vent valve. Open the mechanical filter and activated carbon filter inlet valves, and the pre-pump control valve for the raw water pump, then start the raw water pump to backwash the resin for about 15 minutes. Next, open the softener's inlet valve and drain valve, close its backwash valve and vent valve, and perform forward washing until the water flow is free of salinity.

After completing the steps above, the water softening equipment will be clean and ready for normal operation again.
